Embossing and debossing techniques create a raised or recessed impression on the material. These techniques can be used independently or in combination with hot foil stamping.
Focus on embossing
Embossing is a technique used to create a raised impression on the material.
When used on its own, this technique gives a three-dimensional appearance to the card while maintaining an understated look.
When combined with hot foil stamping, embossing adds a more sophisticated effect. This is referred to as curved hot foil stamping.
Focus on Debossing
Conversely, debossing involves “digging” into the material by pressing the printing shape into it. It is a deformation of the paper through pressure.
In the depressed area, a foil sheet can be applied, combining hot stamping with debossing.
